Nightlong needs rtgmaster although it is not mentioned anywhere nor are the files on the CD.

Get rtgmaster from here: http://www.aminet.net/aminet.cgi?string=rtgmaster+user

NL works fine on Mediator + Voodoo.

If you list the contents of all CDs, there are three directories contained on all CDs. Copy these directories into an empty place of your HDD (duplicate files can safely be overwritten). Then assign Q: to it. Of course you need about 1.5GB free space.

do you have the oh so lovely dots around Joshua?

Yes. This seems to be a P96 issue because it happens on both WinUAE and the Mediator, but not on the CVPPC with CGX. Probably the anti-aliasing is calculated incorrectly for little endian screen modes (16bit PC).

You cannot create 15bit modes if the gfx card does not support them, and the Voodoo doesn't AFAIK.

I got this message in WinUAE, too, but with the latest Update (1.2 IIRC) it works now. On my Amiga with Mediator+Voodoo, the PPC version works either.

And please do not mix P96 and CGX, they are different. MorphOS uses CGX and Mediator uses P96.

I've checked versions and I noticed that on the Amiga version 1.1 which was on the CD is running fine. So I offer you my screenmode settings rather than the NL updates.

You shouldn't change anything in the first run. If you change frequencies you probably also change mode IDs. This causes confusion about the mode to use.

The Picasso96Settings file contains all the available screen modes. Each mode has a unique mode ID.

The RtgScreenMode.prefs file contains the mode ID for Nightlong. If you change Picasso mode IDs, Nightlong will use the wrong mode and display only garbage.

A screemode requester appears if the RtgScreenMode.prefs file is missing when Nightlong is started. Once you click on save, it will create this file and never ask again. Delete the prefs file to get the requester next time you start Nightlong.

The only screen mode to choose for Nightlong is 640x480x16, so you should make sure such mode exists in your Picasso96 settings.

Choose a partition with more than 1.6 GB of free space. Make a directory called Q there.

Each Nightlong CD contains three directories called Data, FMV and NLanim.cdx. Copy these three directories from each CD into the new Q directory, so that you have one Data, one FMV and one NLanim.cdx directory there.

Now edit the file S:User-Startup. Add a line reading

assign Q: Work:Q

where Work:Q is the path to the new Q directory. Make sure there is no other assign for Q: in the User-Startup.

Remove the CD and reboot, now start Nightlong. Whenever it asks you to change the CD, just press enter.
