No, you did not really solve the DefIcons issue.
According to this thread:
https://forum.amiga.org/index.php?topic=76099.msg857125#msg857125you had two copies of DefIcons and you removed the wrong one. The one in WBStartup is the new official 3.2 one which you should keep and the one in User-Startup is the old hack which you should remove.
In addition to that, by installing the old hacky DefIcons you probably also installed the old deficons.prefs which does not contain the correct definition for ADF files. And on top of that if you also replaced the ADF icon, it probably does not call the right program.
It's all the same problem.
