Unable to resolve host

Obviously the DNS you entered does not work or didn't make it into Genesis' configuration. Run GenesisPrefs, double click your interface, go to the rightmost tab (which is labelled "resolve") and check if the DNS is present there. If not, add it.

Loading segment for samba:bin/nmbd failed

In GenesisPrefs go to database / inetd and remove the entries for nmbd, smbd and swat if you don't want to use Samba.

When I click on GenesisPrefs, nothing happens.

Install Boingbag 1 for OS 3.9. You shouldn't use OS 3.9 without at least Boingbag 1 anyway.

Genesis does not use mui afair, it uses reaction ,

The original version of Genesis as you can download from Aminet uses MUI. The OS 3.9 version of Genesis should use ReAction. But by accident on the first batch of OS 3.9 CDs the MUI version if GenesisPrefs was delivered. This is fixed by Boingbag 1.
