Problem finding Kickstart ROM sockets in A4000
« on: February 20, 2008, 08:23:55 PM »
Is there a good online source with illustrated tutorials for common Amiga hardware upgrades/issues?

I just bought a pair of 3.1 kickstart ROMs for a recently purchased A4000D, but I can't locate sockets U175/U176.  I assume that they're under the CD-ROM and hard drive, but before I start taking the machine apart, I'd like to find a guide to putting it back together!

And where do I find the revision number for the motherboard?

thanks, guys.  So is there an illustrated guide to hardware replacements or perhaps a source for PDFs of old manuals?

Oh well...there goes one set of ROMs!

It took about ten tries and one pin finally snapped off. F*ck!

I'd also forgotten about the joys of unkeyed drive cables.  What side does the red go on when looking at the back of the drive: left or right?

EDIT: Nevermind.  The red edge goes closest to the power connector.
