Is Google starting to suck?
« on: March 03, 2005, 12:37:39 AM »
It seems over the past two months Google has been getting really bad in regular text searches.

Today it finds 0 links for "best desktop font"

Is there something better anyone else has found? Google is getting bad.

Found this site http://www.cantfindongoogle.com/

Half the people can't find what they're looking for because of the dumb things they try in a search.

Really looking for: I\'m dying to know the name of a song that i heard someone playing some 2 years ago at camp (Seeds of Peace), i really can\'t remember ANYTHING about it. That\'s quite funny. It\'s probably a 90s song, sung by a girl, the rythm is probably similar to \"It\'s All About Money\" by Meja.
Queries tried: "Can't remember song" "Can't remember songs" "Cant remember song/s" "can't recall song", etc...

Like google is supposed to be psychic and know the song you can't remember.

Really looking for: The name and/or artist of a song. Female singer, only real lyrics I remember are just her voice saying "do do do" over and over to the beat of the song. And a part of a line that goes something like "I was sitting on the corner".
Queries tried: You can imagine how unsuccessful one might be searching for "do do do". heh. I tried searching for variations of "sitting on the corner" and cancelling out artist names that weren't the right one (eg: -"grandmaster flash" ). No luck.

Lyrics are usually a piece of cake. Sometimes it helps to filter out junk by including the word "lyrics"

Here's a *MUST GOOGLE*.

Your usual username, and your most used password. Surprisingly my username was posted with one of my passwords in a textfile cached by google. Scary. Glad I no longer use a single password.
