European A1200 in the USA
« on: March 19, 2008, 02:15:50 AM »
I just scored a sweet deal in Tucson this weekend. A guy was moving back to france, and sold his A1200, A500, Atari 520ST and an A1084 monitor for $100.00. Problem is, they are all 220V from france. I have an adapter that converts 110>220V, and they work fine, but I was wondering if there was another option.
Can I use a standard 110V A1200 PSU to run the thing, or will it fry. Is it only the PSU or the mainboards that are different? I am hesitant to test it and risk blowing my new toys.
Notice I am refraining from the many French jokes I could make right now. Believe me, it is difficult...

Now... My next quest is to find a video cable for that Atari 520ST... Bound to be one on Ebay somewhere...

Thanks for that tip on Redmond Cable, too! That is great! I have used Amiga's since 1987, but I have never used an Atari ST before. It might be fun...
