Hiya, I can't speak for this particular one but I bought something similair from CPC and it was solder mounted.

You should really remove your old one by de-soldering anyway. Also the Amigakit one doesn't say if it's rechargable  :angry:

It needs to either be isolated so it doesn't recharge (big bang otherwise) or rechargeable. Which the one I got from CPC was. http://cpc.farnell.com/BT01218/batteries-power-supplies/product.us0?sku=MAXELL-ML2032-T25

I've just done my 2000D with this and I'm going to do my 2 * 500+ and my 4000D as well.

The 2000 has plenty of room around the battery area to get an iron in easy once you've stripped it down to the bare board.
