Bootable AF2008 CD
« on: July 28, 2008, 10:41:40 PM »
Hi,having been forced to switch from hardware to an emulated Amiga, I have a query regarding the AF2008 CD. I understand that you can use this to boot into an Amiga enviroment. Im finding it hangs in exactly the same place as Amithlon etc and assume this is the same linux distro being used minus any updates for later motherboard chipsets ?
I was able to run Amithlon fine on a PIII 800 I have but it wont look at my current hardware, and the same goes for a bootable AF2008.
Trying to run the bootable version on an ECS :/ mobo Intel P965/ ICH8 chipset, Q6600, 4GB Ram, ATI 4850 grfx
To get this running will I be required to start digging into the kernel of the distro itself, and if so are there tutorials anywhere ? Thanx

DVD player and DVD-RW are both on the IDE channel. I have an AMD 2400xp based system to try it on with a VIA chipset, failing that I`ll drag the PIII 800 out and try it on there. The reason for asking the question was I remembered the original Amithlon would only operate with certain chipsets as that was all that was catered for before the project was stopped. And I`m thinking that the bootable AF2008 is the same project and if it is. Has it had any further development to improve it since Amithlon ceased to make it worthwhile trying to figure out what the problems I have are. I remember the sound used to be an issue on certain systems, causing system lockups and slowdowns, is this still the case ?

Fair nuff, struck me as being the same due to the same version of linux being used, figure thats where the problem is lying.
