Does anyone know how to set jumpers on a SCSI drive to use 2 HDs?

I have the address jumpers down, but what is "drive motor enable" and "parity/no parity" mean?
Only adjust the address an termination! Parity is for error checking.
HD tool box will not read the drive info either.
I have an IBM drive that just won't work with my A 4000 T SCSI controller.
It is possible I guess that some models don't work.
Do you have other SCSI devices that do work?
Can you test the drives on other computers?
