Adjusting the clock/phase settings of your LCD can help with the vertical lines (provided it has those adjustments,) it's very hard to get a great picture on an LCD with those, however.

Not sure why the colors would be dull.

I can't understand why LCD monitors glitch out when used with some cards. Surely VGA is VGA? Can someone explain?

VGA is VGA, but not everything running through an HD15 cable is VGA.

The actual VGA specs are pretty, erm, specific, and I'd bet whatever the old scandoublers are putting out isn't exactly to spec.  CRTs shooting their magical beams at a phosphor coated piece of glass have always been more forgiving than LCDs with their set pixels.

I only tried my Flicker Magic version of this scandoubler on one LCD monitor, but the vertical banding was quite noticeable.
