A scan converter would be cheaper, and a 4000 with an Indivision will work on most LCDs. The 3000's scandoubler doesn't fix 50hz modes, so unless you've got a 50hz compatible display (probably not an issue if you're not in the US) you might not be able to run PAL screenmode software (lots of games.) 3000 not having AGA could be an issue too. For the "real Amiga experience," you need one of each model released!
Having said that, I prefer the 3000 to the 4000 myself. Good luck finding one at a reasonable price.
