Is it a simple "serial to PS/2" adapter or a "PS/2 to Amiga" adapter?  The former will never work, and if it's the latter, you might want to provide the model information.  I think older ones required drivers.

If it's a PS/2 to serial adapter, you'll want to stop plugging it into your Amiga before you break something, it won't work.  Those are PC only, and generally only work with specific mice.  You'll need a smarter device than that to work with your Amiga, something like a Cocolino or Micromys.
