I have no experience with Miami, but Genesis has never seemed to work with DHCP for me.  Try specifying IP, Gateway, and DNS addresses in the Genesis configuration and then try putting it online.

I've never had to enter a MAC address.

As for the IP, you can pick that yourself, if your router is 192.168.1.1 try using something like 192.168.1.88 or something that isn't already in use on the network.

Were you able to ping the router?  You're not going to show up in DHCP on the router no matter what you do, don't worry about that.
