You can connect your a500 to a "PC" com port via a serial null modem cable and simply dial in.

Some people beef up their a500s though to make this option more practical as you'll encounter alot of hurdles with on both software/hardware sides.

I used a bone stock a500plus with 512MB fast, an a590HD to boot from with Amiga OS 2.05, Miami 3.1 TCP/IP stack, configured to dial into the "PC" com port. Then ran the Amiga Internet Apps through a proxy setup.

Don't waste your time with this method though, its just simply too painstakingly slow.

I tried it with my a1200 and it overall seemed ok, achieving 56k modem transfer speed.

If you're still interested though, I have the FAQs and drivers.

Paul.

Oh gee, that takes me back, when I could get Console access on dialup to a Linux (Shell) box for $5 a month, but TCP was $15.

The Brainless sysadmin left compile access open to all users, so what happened ?, SL.IP was compiled in to the Kernel  :)

That got me 6 months of GUI web access at a severely reduced rate, SLIP in stead of TCP.

And not to tip them off, I was UUencoding binaries through Email.  LOL, you should have seen the size of their email spools.

Nicely done my friend.
