Hello AmiDelf,

That reaction of Bill Buck.
It reads like a person who's been hurt and insulted.
Do you know what happened or said to him prior this reaction of his?
If his reaction isn't a "reaction" but just came out (all of a sudden) then I'd say that he isn't a polite man.
But again, I don't know the history behind this and therefore it isn't possible to base something on only this mail of his.

Like Mahen said, if it's only one person but the company is delivering, I don't mind. We don't have to talk to that person.
Look at Bill Gates!!
Everybody dislikes him, but still, how many of the Amiga community have a pc at home with Windows!!!!!
(no need to say more I think)

I'm very curious about the history, could you tell that?

Hello CodeSmith,

Quote
BTW, I disagree with the comment about Amiga users also using Windows. We use Windows because at work, you pretty much never have a choice and at home, well, how many games come out for the amiga each year? how many websites can you browse with amiga web browsers? I still use my accelerated A1200, but I'd be cutting my nose off to spite my face if I *only* used my A1200...

I placed that comment as an example how a few people say that they don't like Bill Buck as a person and therefore they don't want his product (Pegasos/MorphOS),  but on the other hand people are using Windows at home while not liking Bill Gates.
This wasn't meant as an attack or so :-)

I agree with you about the internet-part, not with the games-part though. I've got my PS2 to cover that one :-D
But for internet unfortunately you need pc software to cover all those websites with Java, etc..
(Ofcourse you can emulate it too on your A1200 :-))

Hello CodeSmith,

Well, sometimes I'm not so clear in writing down what I precisely mean :-) (English is not my native language)

my boss says Windows so it has to be Windows

Ofcourse you have to use the material you get on your work. I'm writing this at my work on a pc with Win95 on it. That's why I said:

"....how many of the Amiga community have a pc at home with Windows!!!!!...."

So work doesn't count ofcourse :-)

About Linux and Mac people:
I know too little about these two groups to go into it, but is it correct that on the Mac you can install pc software, like IE?
Linux, can't they run pc software?
(really I don't know about these two systems, that's why I am asking these questions)

Hi everyone,

I guess I have to blame myself for the direction this news topic has gone. I was the one asking for background why Bill Buck did write such a piece. I remember the thread wich Trezzer provided. As I reread it Trezzer you walked a fine line of decency there.
Ofcourse you should say what you believe and feel, but there are more ways to put them into words, don't you agree with me?

Anyway everybody:

Sorry

Let us look to the future! I still see a world where we've got OS4 and MorphOS "living" together!
I really think this is good, think about it:

Companies have ideals, goals, believes etc.
That is why they head in a particular direction in which they find potential clients.

Take now two companies:
The've got their own believes, directions, etc.
So they will go their own way with picking up clients on the way.
Combined they will "cover" a lot of people who will use an Amiga or an Amiga-like system.
This isn't bad in my opinion.

The Amiga community will come out the dark, into the light in this way (uuh, publicity is the subject here :-))
