Yep, that sounds like the green signal is missing from the monitor cable - just leaving red and blue will give you a magenta cast to everything. First thing is the cable, make sure no pins are bent. What sort of monitor is it? Does it have a connector at the monitor end as well which might be loose or damaged? Have you any other monitor you can try?
