Amiga 600 HDD format and ROM extraction
« on: November 26, 2008, 06:09:47 AM »
Hi guys, back again.

FINALLY got my Amiga 600 together.

I'm trying to figure out how to format my 6Gb HDD.

The questions being, what format should it be (FAT32, NTFS, etc.) and how do I get Workbench, games, ADF's, etc onto there? I already have a USB adapter to small IDE adapter for the PC, which works fine.

As I understand it, I should use two 2Gb partitions, and leave the rest as free space.

My other question: It has a rev 37.300 ROM, but I want to replace it with a 37.350 ROM, how can I do this without bending pins, etc? I don't have an IC extractor, is there any equivalent method I could use?

Thanks everyone, any help appreciated.

Thank you, I have Cloanto with workbenches on it, I don't know if they are "complete" sets, but it's the 2006 version.

I'm such a newbie to this, I can get WinUAE, no problem. I just don't know what to do with it all, I'm a PC/Macintosh guy!  :-D So this is my second Amiga experience, given I still have my A500.

I'm trying to be a bit minmal on stuff, given I'm unemployed, so if I can get the HDD working, that'll be great.

step-by-step walkthrough anyone?

Hi Amiduffer,

thanks for the Tute, but my browser doesn't connect me to the page. Is there something wrong with the site, or the post doesn't exist anymore?

Hi guys,

managed to get the HDD formatted, as 2 2GB partitions.

Ok, how do I get HDF's onto there with WinUAE? I don't understand what to do. I know I need WHDLoad for ADF games.

Thanks,

Circlip.
