Have a look here at the os3.9 FAQ...they explain how to get the surf running properly.

Hmm strange, i followed the instructions to get my squirrel running in 0s3.9 and it worked perfectly with no problems.

I've since done the internal cd mod to my 1200 and sold the squirrell :)
