Red Screen of death?
« on: November 27, 2007, 09:14:21 AM »
Hi,

occasionally when re-booting my 1200, instead of a proper re-boot, it "red screens".  This can normally be resolved by Ctrl+Am+Am again, but in some cases requires a power off.

The 1200 is in its original case.  It is expanded with a Blizzard 1230 mk2 with 64mb of RAM + FPU. It also has an internal 750mb 2.5" IDE HD.

I cant see any signs of battery leakage on the Blizzard card.

I have recently moved house, and haven't used the Amiga for a few months. I have re-seated the Blizzard etc.

This only happens when the machine is re-booted, otherwise the machine is is fine.

Any ideas?
Amigas owned:
1) A1200 Power Tower, Blizzard PPC 603+040 128Mb, BVision
2) A1200 Desktop with an ugly looking hole hacked out of the trap door cover to accommodate a DCE built Blizzard 1260 with 64Mb (angled SIMM slot).
not in use:
3) A4000/040 - has an Emplant card installed.  Sadly no video output:-( current location: loft
4) A1000 - owned it since about 1988, current location: loft (AFAIK it still works though)
Sundry bits:
Blizzard 12

Thanks for that,

I think that is probably it.  I moved my 3.1 ROMS into my other A1200 a while back before moving and put the original 3.0 ROMS back in it. That plus the 60 mile journey in the back of a Peugeot Boxer van sounds more than plausible to me:-)

At least it doesn't sound like anything is dieing on me phew!
