I will consider it a paid subscription for future updates of FinalWriter  to anyone who donates $5 a month to him.

you simply should gather what has been done so far, specify the features honestly, set up an appropriate price and release it as is. otherwise it may never get done. you can still charge for future essential updates.

i dont want to speak for anybody, especially as im not really informed. but think of what might happen if the community so to say "hired" someone like that for their benefit, a work he obviously enjoys. this obviously addresses aros community in first place, but who knows. wile i doubt it a little, but what if enough funds might be gathered this way to guarantee stable income and steady development, rather than looking for some dumb job?

I that was the case Hyperion, MorphOS devs etc all would be working full time on their respective OS with all of our support.  It's time for a real j.o.b.  We'd all love to work on what we love, at home, our own boss etc.  Sometimes that doesn't happen.

morphos team is charging for a license. right? for maintenance costs. aros team does not. now are you going to tell the morphos team to get real jobs instead?

now, os4 companies would certainly gather better support if they delivered comparable results in the same fields as aros developers instead justifying their products and prices with the heritage alone.

it isnt exactly unheard of, that the community gathered a bounty or otherwise supported developers from os4 or morphos camp. so whats your point?

you are trying hard not to understand. but whatever. you dont need to if you dont want. and you dont need to support nick. its volontary. i base my decision in this case upon achievements rather than trying to argue if he can find a job or not.
