OS4.x can be run on mobile hardware for the first time. It can now be run on cheaper hardware, hardware that people already have. Don't you think that's an important development.
not really. by your logic amiga os already runs on mobile devices for years, namely the genuine one. even if os4 ran natively on x86 but still with the speed from the nineties it would remain nice gimmick, but nothing people would seriously use. seriously as in actually using it for productivity or so, which is the point os4 fans try to prove. namely that os4 is a contemporary solution and not just a retro toy. as it is, it only shows that amiga hackers are more capable, have more vision and sense for experiment than the os4 development team.
A number of threads on most Amiga sites, 800 respondants (not many polls get such a response here these days) to a poll on Amiga New de.
you could vote on that poll multiple times. i did for the fun it. and i told it christoph. im pretty sure there was others eager to prove some point as it was the case in the past. so i dont take it as a secure reference.
The emulation is not mature at this point but there are already various videos on youtube showing that it works and there is a lot of interest.
It's much more efficient to run software directly through Windows too but people still run web browsers and various ports under UAE.
the point of running uae is to run genuine amiga software. if you can run some more or less contemporary open source apps alongside without switching to the host system, it is just a convenience but not a particular argument. os4 lacks genuine software. i doubt there is overwhelming demand to run quick and dirty sdl and qt ports under uae when you can run them natively.
