Overdrive for the A1200 not working
« on: November 19, 2007, 10:50:27 PM »
Hi all,
I have an overdrive Pcmcia CD drive, but it is not powering up. I have tried changing the CD drive inside it, made sure all the cables and board was ok but still no power to it.
The A1200 Also has a Cobra 030 40MHz + FPU and 32MB ram. it also has an AT 230Watt PSU so i know there is enough power.  Can someone please tell me what output voltage is for the overdrive, I am thinking of using one of those multi Volt AC adapters.
Any ideas or help is much welcomed. :-D

Thank You.

The only power source i have is a pass thru adapter that fits the external floppy controller on my amiga. I'll try and get a picture tonight when i get home if you like.
The unit and adapter have no power rating on them.  :-(

I finally got the CD Drive to power on and eject, but wouldn't you know just when I got the overdrive to work my DHO: became unreadable (Don't know what happened there :-( ) So I'm in the process of reformatting and reinstalling wb3.1 (the pain of it all  :-D ) and will see if the overdrive works enough for me to install OS 3.9.
What i did to the overdrive was basically take everything out of the case and resoldier all the points and clean up the contacts which seem to make it work it is hookup to the floppy port for power but also get power from the pmcia slot.
Thank You all for your help

Already tried that but no go hence the reformat. Also the A1200 has a 230W AT powersupply.
