FA Amiga 4000T + '060 50 Mhz + CDRW
« on: May 09, 2008, 02:59:36 PM »
Auctioning a Quikpak Amiga 4000T with '060, 128+16MB ram, CDRW, Hi Density floppy drive.

System is in good condition and well maintained...(please read the listing).

There is a reasonable reserve on this listing and I've included a 'Buy it Now' price for those who don't want to risk not being highest bidder.

Due to weight and size, system is only available to the U.S. and Canada...sorry.

btw, wanted to mention that the 'reserve price' on this auction, while reasonable, is not near (i.e. within at least $300 of) the 'Buy it Now' price.

It's only there to keep the 'Buy it Now' option available and to prevent non-serious bidders from bidding to remove the 'Buy it Now' option before many have had a chance to see the listing.

thanks for bidding.
Sincerely,

counter is at 270 in 8 hours which is the most views I've had in such short time.

...also number of watchers...

I know these aren't as plentiful as other Amiga classic systems so I suppose that accounts for it.

thanks for the interest.

the counter is at 475

there's 39 watchers at just over the first day this morning.

most of the auctions I've held have, at most, 10-15 watchers and end up with 1-5 bidders.

(I'm sure some are just curious to see how much it will go for and I've had some email me saying they thought it was worth more then the 'buy it now' but based on what I've seen these things go for between $700-$1400 depending on condition and extras.)

up to 42 watchers now...and 10 bids from 5 bidders with the counter at 641...in about 1 day and 10 hours...definitely high score for me.

no bids since this morning or so I think though..

guess everyone is figuring they're approaching the reserve soon and holding back so the 'Buy it Now' option stays if they want to use it.

very interesting...!!!

status this morning, Sunday, is counter is 791!

11 bids from 6 bidders and 47 watchers!

haven't broken the reserve yet so I'm hoping I didn't set it too high and am putting bidders off.  I genuinely wanted to keep the 'Buy it Now' option open but the reserve is not far away now so if someone breaches it I guess that opens the door for last minute frantic bidding.

thanks for bidding.

I'm guessing that instead of using your totally reasonable buy it now price, Your reserve will be met, the Buy it now will go away, and some idiot will bid it up to $1800 in the last minute.

Wow, from your lips to God's ears! ..but yeah, in search of a bargain that appears to be what might happen now since the reserve was met at a bit after 4:00 pm today PDT.

..now 13 or so hours to go and it's sitting at just shy of $660 which is still a bargain.

As a seller I get a little nervous but I'm sure the bidding will go further.

This morning I've got 57 watchers and 18 bids from 9 bidders...

Price still seems a bargain to me for a machine as clean and well kept as this but with 1 hour and 10+ minutes left that can still change.

So you should've gone the trouble of getting better pics, it would pay off.

usually I manage better images.  In this case, the images from the screen suffered from getting too close to read the data.

I think the tower looks ok, especially if you're looking at the thumbnail and not the enlargement.  It's all there and my feedback shows I do my best to clearly describe the state of things.

actually, it's about what I'd expected...considering the audio board issue and that this is an empty machine with the exception of the HD floppy, CDRW and the '060 processor.  The floppy and CD don't really add anything these days.

only reason I had the buy it now option on there was in case someone wanted to avoid any last minute bidding frenzy but I may have killed that potential myself by starting the auction too late so it ended on Monday in the AM.

In any case, I'm okay with it...and I'd expect that's about what a 4000T/060 should get today.  Hey, you've got to consider that's about 35% of what it cost me NEW and it's twelve years old!  That's saying a lot!

the buyer ended up being in Germany.  I stated in the listing that I'd ship but hadn't included rates since I hadn't expected anyone to want to pay those fees.

I checked the shipping to invoice him today and putting the cpu in one 35 lbs. box and the rest..disks, books, keyboard, etc. in a second box the shipping via priority mail international to Germany from the U.S. came out to $240 U.S.!!! with a few bucks in there for shipping supplies since I didn't have appropriate boxes...(I got rid of original packaging a long while ago and the 4000T is bigger then most computers)

I've invoiced him and assume he expected this...if not it may get relisted.

Of course, it is clear to me that if someone in the U.S. had been willing to pay the buy it now of $1100 their shipping would have brought their total to about the same amount...(and been a bit less hassle for me).

I've ended up shipping several items internationally lately...seems like folks in the U.S. just aren't willing to pay the same amounts ...guess it has to do with the exchange rates.

Sincerely,

Charm FX
