Commodore 64/128 meeting up.
« on: September 26, 2006, 06:01:35 PM »
Redrumloa and I came up with the idea that for ones who are interested in meeting up on either Qlink or Temporal Vortex are more then welcome to Friday night.  I myself will leave my C128 on qlink all day.  I have classes up until noon, but the rest of the day should be open.

Short explanation for people w/o a C64 and wish to join Temporal Vortex:

Download CGTerm
(For Linux/Windows/Mac OS X)

then once you extracted it in the desired folder, Follow:
Open up CGTerm
Press ESC, then press D to connect.
Type this in the address --> BBS.PETSCII.COM 6400 (Yes, there is a space between the address and the port #)

And after pressing enter, give it time to connect itself.
Right now, Temporal Vortex is down, but pray that its up and running by Friday.

If Temporal is not working by then, then you can also link by using Qlink. This process is actually a mess if you try to use a real C64, but here is the link for it:

Quantumlink Reloaded

From my side of experience, you will have to configure TCPSer4J correctly, so I went ahead and uploaded my folder of it on how it came to work.
Doffo's config of TCPSer4j

Once you got both ends talking with eachother, you will have to have Qlink configured as the website of quantum reloaded says, but once your commodore is loaded properly, type in

ATDT 5551212 once the green screen comes up with the type in the modem commands.  After it says CONNECT 1200, press F1 and give it a moment to connect, and WHALA! It should be connected.

For those who dont have a Commodore computer to do this with and wish to connect to Qlink, the Quantum Reloaded site explains how to connect using winvice.

Goodluck and hope some of you show up on friday.  :-D

I will also be more then happy to try to help some of you on this and please post up any questions.

Doffo

Great to hear some feedback.

I was also wondering how you connect through c64friends via qlink.  I know at one point I connected to it because the room was listed in the public, but now im unsure how to do it since its not listed.

Definately awsome there are some of you who are gonna be on.  :-)

Great fun!

Neroflip and I just got done playing Hangman and Sea Strike on the Qlink games menu, and I must say, im impressed it works! :D

Another great thing is the mail options work on there too, so you can leave mail to people who use qlink.

This definately should be fun for friday.  :-)

@gizmo

Its not like the old Qlink. Its the same interface and software, but the creator just reverse engineered the server and slowly adding on to it. All you have to do is get the qlink disk from his site and register with that nickname.  :-)

@LoadWB

If you want. I dont know much about the files themselves, but I would be more then happy to try to have a look at the disk images themselves and see if I can sort them.  Anything from the qlink would be helpful.  :-)

Already Friday.

Just reminding everyone who wants to join in please do so.  Even if you dont quite have the real deal, you can rock out with winvice.

See you there.

@redrumloa
Ever get qlink to dial in yet? If not, I can try to help you doing so.  Its a bit tricky, but it can be pulled off.

You can always visit the Quantum Reloaded site and download that version.  :-)

Qlink is currently running.

The odd think I noticed is that you do have to type in that fancy atdt 5551212 and wait till it says CONNECT 1200, then press F1... But what is it doing on your side?

If you cant get it to work, just use winvice and we can try to hack out the problem. :)

Oh great! Now I need to find a router with more ports than mine (This Linksys only has four), and then figure out how to tie the C128 there. I may well miss this one, but next time you all meet, I hope to have these problems vaulted.

If you got a PC, just winvice it up.  :-D

NO!!! Please don't! Any attention brought to this hobby project may find AOL shutting it down! Just look how Amiga Ince lashes out at people who boot an A1000 with KS3.1! :-x

Didnt know they got upset lol.  Can't believe they even bother with taking action against it.  If my product was long gone and people were still hacking/fixing the thing, id be more then happy for them taking the time on that. :)

You can also join up 'irc c64friends' room. Though it doesnt show up on qlink, just join a public room and type that exact name. Talk, though it shows nobody is in, there are people. :)

Thanks.
