Hi José
---------------------------------------
What's up dudes. Since I was disappointed with the noise of the A4000 PSU I decided to start a thread on the best way to make the thing silent. That's one of the things I allways preferred on my A1200 over my noisy AMD PC.
So right now I was thinking about changing the PSU's fan.
---------------------------------------
IMO there is no eal reason to replace your A4K PSU for another one, if the original is still in working condition, the more if you think you have to solder all those cables again and make the pertinen modification to the new PSU.
Just open your PSU and cut one of two fan cables. get a PTC resistor and solder it betwwen the cable you just have cut.
This way the PTC resistor will regulate how much voltage goes to the FAN, and it will regulate it dinamically (depending on the current)
The other option is making alittle termoregulator, applying the sensor to the pasive cooler of the PSU conmutted transistos, and the output to the fan, this way the Fan will spin whin more speed it the psu is hot and viceversa.
best Regards
