Demos running on OS4 for classic hardware
« on: November 03, 2007, 10:18:57 PM »
Title says it all. Found this website whilst looking for PPC accelerator info, has an interesting look at compatibility with software running through OS4 for classic Amigas:

I believe the website belongs to a forum member (xeron), but I couldn't see the story posted here so I thought I would pass it on.

Hope you don't mind me doing this xeron. BTW, random fact for you, I realized you live about 10 miles from me (I'm a Bathonian)! Pretty cool I think.

MorphOS 2.0 was demonstrated yesterday on Efika 1 and Pegasos 2, and this morning AmigaOS 4.0 was demonstrated on A1200 PPC at the bigest french demo party "Alchimie 7"  Tain l'Hermitage.

Thanks for letting us know about this CLS2086. I found this website for the event: http://www.triplea.fr/alchimie7/pages2/index.en.php . Got any links for pictures from the event?

Can you run Hippoplayer in OS4 on classic?.

Don't know which version of OS4 is being used, but someone got it working on their OS4 machine:

Hi !
Keep watching this links, photos and more soon !  ;-)

Video of Saturday

Take care, sound is encoded as MP3 not MP2 (aka mpeg1 layer 2)

Cool vid, thanks man. Couldn't get sound working (when VLC can't play the sound you know something's wrong!). How do you recommend I get the audio to work (I'm using XP at the moment)?

Looking forward to the next installment CLS2086. :-D

Rename the file as AVI, and use "Media Player Classic". ;-)

CLS2086, I renamed the file, tried a number of video players (if Media Player Classic is an old school version of WMP, I tried that also). I wasn't going to download a new video player, so I decided to fix the audio issue using Super C (if anyone has Windows I highly recommend this program, great for converting media file types). Free download here: http://www.erightsoft.com/SUPER.html . Converted video file found here:

Vid converted into xvid format, audio kept in mp3 format. File is now marginally smaller (was 26.5MB now 21MB) without any visible loss of quality and the audio works (at least it does for me).

Hope you don't mind me doing this CLS2086. When's the next clip coming? Looking forward to seeing OS4 running on an A1200, do you have footage or pictures of that?
