Just a reminder folks, Merlancia is largely a hoax.
It was mostly just Ryan and his mother, he claims he has some more help now, and his operation has consisted mainly of selling old amiga parts and systems from a tiny cluttered room..

The claims of being a worldwide engineering firm were exposed many months ago as being a hoax, and no matter how many times Ryan updates the website, it is still more empty talk.

Now, with that said, according to ryan this 'product' is similar to a pegasos motherboard.  He 'partners' with bPlan, and this motherboard, he says is not simply an exact copy of a pegasos, but differs in some nebulous way which he will not say, probably it fits the mcc case.

Hopefully his price will be better than for a regular pegasos bought from a reputable dealer, because I can tell you one thing, his mother and him have  a terrible reputation in this community for support on the products they sell.

I have no idea how much that design cost Amiga to commision in the first place....I hope not a lot....or how much they sold it for....but according to the realpix saga where a lot of Ryan's activities are exposed, he sent them 100,000 dollars...which is real money, I think....but it was not disclosed if this was a purchase price or simply a loan for other matters....

This is not a new PPC computer just a pegasos in a MMC tower. Honestly I doubt he could even produce the tower and especially the monitor would be expensive.

He already said, that for various reasons the MMC will not look exactly as in that photo.  Again, no real reason given, but I imagine its because he didn't get that design produced, but is picking a similar looking design from stock cases...I might be giving him too much credit, perhaps he won't even have a similar looking case.

Its not that good looking a design, but we can wait and see, and I am sure someone will post a link to the source for the case in short order.

I agree with you, there will be no matching monitor.

It's an old joke, and amiga.org has shamed itself for posting this as a news item.   I have found recently that there is a lot more news than what appears on this site.  This site will spread a rumor like wildfire and then misses real news....well noone's perfect, but honestly....how thoroughly does ryan have to be debunked as a sham before amiga's news moderators think twice about it.  This wasn't even released as a news item by Merlancia and it made the news....good grief.

I think that amiga could do the coupon scam again tomorrow and get the same response...no one learns.

sorry I don't have the address but over at ann.lu they post the address of the realpix site...you know what, if memory serves correct its www.realpix.com/merlancia.html....oh its funny.

One thing I will say to Ryan's credit, he should call this an Amiga, and make Amiga, Inc. sue him if they don't like it.  That will prove the toothless tiger theory once and for all (and I think it would prove just that)...but who knows, it will be interesting.

If Amiga, Inc. doesn't even protect their trademarks, they aren't protecting much of anything..and the word Amiga most definately CAN go into the public domain, if Amiga Inc doesn't protect that trademark.

And then Amiga Incs theoretical ability to grab the amiga.org domain would also slip away as well.

If you're so unhappy about the newspostings then why don't you go looking for newsitems yourself and post em? User interaction is the only way to improve it if you're annoyed by it....

Uhmmm... I was not complaining about lack of news items, but the posting of rumors as news items, and I do contribute to fixing this problem. The Amithlon Kernel 'update' which many sites carried, was not carried here, because I had researched the topic and notified amiga.org staff the moment a similar item was posted here.

I posted to the forums, the recent beta release of UAE for Mac OS X .

I didn't post directly to news allowing the community to decide if this is really an amiga story (in a broad interpretation it is)...or if it is in fact a Mac OS X story (some people feel so)...in any event noone picked it up and moved it to news...but it was posted to the forums for all to read.

So...I do contribute, and complaining about this Ryan story is another way of contributing.  Someone needs to be alerted that at least one member, and probably many, are getting tired of simple HTML changes on some bogus website being posted as news...a product release or review is news....this is entirely rumor mongering....and why are we feeding this madmans ego anyway?

good grief
