The Hemeris Blade
« on: February 11, 2003, 06:08:45 PM »
Hemeris has a new dual G4/733 Blade Server.

A blade server is not a super big interesting thing for the Amiga market, however, its is on the margins of interest here, and as you can see, from my mini-interview, it turns out there are possible 'possibilities' here (hahaha, wow what a line, look ma I'm a journalist)...

Ahem, back to the subject at hand:

From an e-mail, Alain Marsily of Hemeris:

Q: Is the hemeris a POP design?

Answer:  No, that design lacks smp capability, and besides this just isn't a POP design.

Q: What is your northbridge/southbridge solution?

Answer:  Our chipset is the marvell discovery 2

Q:  Does your server design include AGP expansion?

Answer:  Our design has no expansion at all, but we are evaluating expansion for a future design.

Q:  Why choose a dual 733, as opposed to an 800mhz?

Answer: Because the 733mhz
--is cheaper
--dissipate less
--more importantly allowed us to add a faster L3
cache at a reasonable price

Disclosables specs should be available soon.
