Battery on A4000T (Escom)
« on: November 25, 2005, 07:18:37 PM »
Was looking into doing the battery repacement trick (put in a watch battery) but was wondering about two things.

1) The previous owner soldered on a lil case that holds 2 "AA" batteries.  It's ugly as sin, but if I can put rechageables in there (only has "super" alkaline in it right now) would it be better?

2) the A4000T has a pin header that says "battery" in the front most bottom corner.  Would it be better to just socket the battery that way instead of soldering?

PS- my solid state IDE 512mb is on it's way... WA-WHO!!!!!

If you browse the pictures that I contributed to the Photo Album you will find something useful. Just get a 3.6 V lithium battery pack. The one I got was a Maxell, from Maplins.

Saw em.  and very nice!!! The case for the AA batteries look JUST like that, so much That I though t is was one of those types soldered one!!!

What I might do now is desolder it and connect it the same way yours is. It'll make for a much cleaner looking system

Side note, I like what you did with your cross bar.  Me, I just hacked the sucker off at the back of the front drive bays because it was blocking to many critical componants...

If I wanted to do the watch battery fix anyway would I still need to put in the Diode - 1N914 to keep it from exploding, etc.?
