Mediator TX and Radeon 9250 "not detected"
« on: January 02, 2016, 11:48:30 PM »
Hi! I decided to change old Virge DX to Radeon 9250 and Picasso96 can't "see" my Radeon?

I hope my Radeon is "compatible" with Mediator?

Could you please tell me how to diagnose problem? My Virge works great...

Ps. How can I change my "signature" under my posts... it is outdated. I searched ALL setting is my profile!

No PCI device...

What a cr... .  I was thinking that TX will work with ANY Radeon (3.3V or 5V). I do have ATX PSU. I really don't understand why it doesn't work.

What a disappointment.

EDIT: I changed to second PCI slot and there is ATI Radeon 9200 detected. I copied Radeon.card to Picasso96/Libs... but now system will not boot properly.

OK. It works. I contacted Elbox and they suggested to run MediatorCofig after that I was able to make it work with Picasso96Setting etc.

Thank you for help with PCIconfig.

Great news! I am looking forward to getting mine in. Did you change from a Voodoo to the Radeon 9250? This is what I will be doing. Did you have to use a native Amiga screen and start all new screens on the 9250 or were you able to reuse any from the Voodoo?

I am just wondering what process I will need to do once I install the new card.

I changed from Virge (my description in signature below is wrong (old days), and I don't know how to change it!). You need to change your Virge monitor file (Devs/Monitors/) to Radeon (also in tooltypes from Virge to Radeon). Also don't forget to copy (by hand) Radeon.card to Libs/Picasso96. It is NOT installed (?!) automatically using Mediator installer. Then I run MediatorConfig and there were few specific "options" like do you use Radeon 256 or 128, MMU etc. after that it worked find and pciinfo detected Radeon properly on 1 PCI slot.

Now, I need to set up screen modes to use something more then 800x600, but I think I need to do manually, since none created automatically seem to work properly.

I'm setting up system from scratch and Virge card did not need that much attention. It simply worked.

PS. Only problem is that when I tried to run P96Speed Radeon seems to be slower then my VirgeDX (in many "tests", but it some other much faster). I don't see any difference in Workbench speed, but I REALLY like DVI output :).

Good luck with setting up your Radeon!

I already figure this out (did it loooong time ago). Now I use 1600x1200 in 16bit, works great and picture using DVI is super sharp.

Thank you for link, I will watch so maybe I will learn something new.

Good video, I did not know there is unofficial Picasso96. I will give it a try.

BTW. I have exactly the same monitor. Were you able to connect Amiga DIRECTLY to it? It should work "on paper". I could not make it work :(
