Stuck on MINERVA Metastasis Half-Life 2 Mod

I'm in a big complex with a huge blue/white beam of light running through it's middle. The little note/advice text thing long since disappeared and I don't know how to bring it back up for a hint. It said something like "you have to destablise the power conduit by shooting at it from above."

So I've gone up these 2 walkways and can get pretty high above this beam of energy/light thing and have pressed 2 switches which turned off 2 stabalising energy beams that were firing into the main one. I've tried the rocket launcher, grenades, all my guns to no effect. The beam seems to just disintergrate anything shot at it. So how i distablise it any more I just don't know.

Any help greatly appreciated. Might get a few screen shots up if it helps.

Tried that too, it obviously kills you since is disintergates your weapons. I kind of figured that, but game for a laugh init.  :-D

Ok, this is dumb! I know the game is on an alternative OS but it's a game! It should have stayed in games imho. :madashell:  :-?  :griping:

That's the bit where i first whacked in cheats, cos i found if i didn't i was soon shot to death by 2 combine troops.

I didn't think to stack those boxes, just tried various ways of cracking them open in the hope a weapon was inside. I think I got one open with a sliding door.  No weapons tho!  :-(
