Amikit on linux is pretty straight forward, you need a kick rom, the 3.5/9 cd, then just download the linux installer from the site

Well, the new gui installer uses xdialog or something, apart from that its standard.

Uhm, i read that too quick, its a standalone installation, no amikit linux distro, yet anyway, i know the guy that wrote the installer was experimenting with zip-slack tho. A standard ubuntu install with proper gfx drivers installed should do the job, course you have to apt-get xdialog, i dont think ubuntu includes that either.
