Is this the hack that prevents the "flicker" at the top of the screen in hi-res modes that occurs for 5 - 10 minutes after booting (or until the machine is warm?)Link?
You need to short out E127R which is on the underside of the A1200 Mobo in order to clean up the CLK signal.
It's a 1K resistor between +5V and the CCK line which raises the peak to peak amplitude of the clock signal to over 4 Volts, Without it the signal swing is 3.4V
