Amiga 4000 diagnostics help needed
« on: January 13, 2009, 02:01:44 PM »
This is what I have found:

1) The internal ide port seems dead.
-- When a drive is 100 percent correctly attatched I get one of two results: It either isn´t seen by scsi.device, or my machine has a black screen for ever while fans and leds work

2) The PSU might be dead
-- It has now killed two CF adapters, two IDE harddrives, one SCSI disk and two CF cards. Burnt them out.
-- It is one molex in particular that kills disk, when disks are connected to this molex. They start to sparkle, smoke and burn

3) The 68060 fan might be dead
-- The molex that kills has a splitter on it that powers the fan glued to the heatsink on the 68060 on my Cyberstorm PPC

Good news:
Ive tested the PPC, the CybvPPC and PIV - all working.

So My questions:
1) Where do I get a new fan for my 68060. It seems like it´s screwed in. Do I just google for a same size fan (mm)?

2) Where do I get a suitable new PSU. I´m in Europe and my machine also needs power to the Mediator. Currently, the Amiga PSU plug is soldered on my current PSU.

3) Is my IDE dead for sure?
-- Can it be salvaged? Repaired? Maybe it´s just a new IC or Cap that is needed?

This is a very very depressing day  :bigcry:

@new2amiga
Thanks, I hopy you also resolves the problems with your machine.

@thread
I just contacted AmigaKit and asked them what the difference is between the two adapters ADAPSU004 and ADAPSU009

It seems that ADAPSU009 is the more complete product, and better suited for my Amiga 4000D in PowerTower with Mediator4000D
