I'm not sure if everyone else here has already solved your problem, but if I were you I would check your Startup-Sequence and see if you have these two commands added:

Also make sure you're not already running some sort of patch that you may have used with your old accelerator card, perhaps a patch that reduces RAM to 4MB when the PCMCIA slot is in use or something. If something like "MagicMem" is there, remove it (or put a ; in front of the command to disable it) and try booting.
