Minimig: 1st donation to TeamAros kickstart II made.
« on: October 01, 2007, 08:34:37 PM »

Thanks to the support of many people on this site we have been able to make the first donation to the TeamAros Kickstart ROM Replacement (Phase II) Bounty.

That is the good news.

The bad news is that we are half way through our run of Nusim Minimig v1.1 PCBs.

Grab them while you can!

Once we run out we will do a poll to see if there would be any additional demand.

Once again,

Thank you all for your support.

Hello

Minimig, AROS and the kickstart bounties are a pretty exciting mix.

Basically The kickstart phase I bounty would lead to a working port of AROS on classic Amigas including minimig.
As these machines are 68k + chipset then AROS will have achieved it's original goal of being 'binary' compatible with OS3.x.
However, at this stage minimig (and any other classic) still needs an Amiga Inc licensed kickstart ROM.

The kickstart phase II bounty goes a step further and replaces the original ROM with an AROS ROM. This, would completely open up the classic architecture allowing anyone to build on it and extend it. This includes being able to use high speed 68xxx cores within an FPGA.  :-)

Imagine the same OS scaling from an A1000, minimig or A3000 all the way to an 3Gig x86-64!
