To clean this old 1200 I had to separate the parts.
But the keyboard slipped from the place where I tried to secure it, and the green ribbon-cable connecting it to the MoBo detached itself from its white plastic connector on the MoBo.
I managed to put it back in place, but it seems that it would require some tool that I don't have. I mean it was "plugged" deeper thazn what I can replace it, I dont want to use too much force 8-)
I'd post photos, but the batteries are dead :-(
I will soon.
Anyway, only this cable links the KB to the amiga, so my questions are :*
# Is this cable meant to be detached and put back in place ?
# By what means ? Dataching the white plastic plug from the mobo ? Or rather pull the cable from the keyboard ?
# Is this part replacable ? Or can I, using a proper technique , replace this ribbon cable in its white plastic housing ?
Thank you.
If you have the white plastic clip still push it back over the green ribbon. You will notice that the slot has a piece of white plastic underneat. This goes behind the ribbon (Black exposed copper edge at the top). Slide it about half way up the ribbon. Put the ribbon in the connector with the exposed copper touching the pins in the connector on the the mobo.
Slide down the wlip plastic clip into the connector.
If you have broken a clip of dont worry it shouldn't come loose.
If you have damaged the exposed copper you can use some electro paint on the edges to make good contact again.
If you have damaged the ribbon completely.
Slice 5mm of the bottom. Peal back the green fablon over the copper tracks. With a knife gently scrape of the green paint. Then add elctro paint up about 8mm each track.
If the white plastic clip is broke you can hold it in place with thin card. (Fag packet thickness)
