Real audio is essential if you listen to radio stations on line in the UK.
All the BBC Radio websites use it.
Most English football teams have a "world" site now Eg

LCFC World
Forest World
Pompey World etc.

To listen to the media on those you need real player.

NME.Com uses Real

etc etc

Real is fine here with my cable modem and never had any problems with. Personally I like real more than windows media.

I thought the source had been released under the name helix anyway. IIRC its already been ported to linux.
