Calling all Amiga Graphics Experts :)
« on: November 21, 2004, 11:01:18 AM »
Hi everyone.

I'm after some advice on graphics techniques for a project I'm currently working on. There's a bit of a joke doing the rounds at work that one of our colleagues (called Fadel) sounds just like the Terminator when he speaks. To add further millage to the joke, I've decided to merge the face of Fadel and the Terminator Skeleton, hopefully to acheive something similar to the Arnie/Terminator merge shown on the back of Terminator2 film covers.

I've managed to get a good picture of Fadel's face and a suitable Terminator skull picture which I've scaled, cut out and pasted onto Fadel's face such that one side is his own and the other is the Terminator.

Now, I'm after some advice as to how I can better merge the two sides of the project such that there's less of an obvious boundary between Fadel's face and the Terminator's face. I'm really hoping to do this on the Amiga and I have available the following applications:

PPaint7.0
TVPaint
FXPaint2
ImageFX
Photogenics

Here's a link to the work in progress so you can get an idea of what I'm talking about. You will note that the top of the head isn't quite right - that doesn't matter, I'm also going to merge the rest of Fadel's hairline with the Terminator side anyway. Here it is:

Any advice about how to merge the two sides of this project or how to make it look better in general would be very much appreciated.

Thanks guys

Brian

@Gadget Master

Looks like you've used some kind of swirl/blur tool to rub the two images into each other.  Not a bad result actually, and your swirl has fixed the nose which was a little out of perspective on the Terminator side.  I'll have a play with some of those effects in FXPaint, thanks :)

@Lemonty

Yeah I have seen those kinds of things done in artwork but I've never played around with it myself.  I didn't realise the effect was called a "rubthrough" though and I know FXPaint2 can do that effect.  I'll have a play around with that, thanks very much

Ok thanks for the advice everyone.  Here's the result, done in FXPaint2 on my Amiga:

All I need now is a Christmas hat to put on it and I've got a funny Christmas card for him :-)

Thanks again
