I recently built an Amithlon X86 system based around an Nforce 2 board and an Athlon XP M 2500. All worked fine apart from the board saw my processor as an 800Mhz unit and there was no way of changing the speed settings.
So I changed motherboard to an Asrock K7S41, the processor is now recognised at the correct speed.

The only problem is that when booting from the Amithlon CD the system freezes when the screen with the boing ball apears. So after mucking about in the bios with no success, I decided I'd make an updated Amithlon bootdisk with the new kernel and see if that would work.

I booted up into OS4 and cleared a partition ready to copy the amithlon CD onto before modification. Only problem is that I can't copy the contents of the CD with OS4, it complains that the files are write protected.
I had the same problem before when trying to copy the hardfiles and so on from Amiga Forever 6 to my OS4 system. Funnily enough though I never had this problem with OS3.9 on my A1200.

Has anyone got any idea how I can

a) boot my original Amithlon CD with the Asrock board.

or

b) manage to copy the contents of the Amithlon CD to my hardrive on OS4 so I can modify it.

Get over trying to use OS4.0 on Amithlon. It's PPC only.

You make me feel glad the only circuits I'm having problems with are the ones in my computers :)
