I also use a WAP54G, they're really cheap now and work well. Security is no problem as it supports AES encryption. TKIP is probably "good enough" with a strong key,
it can be cracked but doubtfully by someone in your apartment complex. ;-) Matt_H's idea is even better IMHO.
I get around 920kB/s between my Amiga and PC, PC is wireless and the Amiga sits behind the WAP which is in wireless client mode. The stock firmware on my unit has a few bugs (AES must be selected under WPA, if selected under WPA2 it does nothing, and there's no telnet access), but overall it works OK. I haven't got around to trying another firmware yet, but run Tomato on my router (old WRT54GL) and really like it.
