There are a few Samsung LCDs listed on the BBOAH which handle 15kHz through the VGA input. However, they are not EDTVs and will not flicker-fix or scan-double. There are some newer Samsungs out there (and I may get one to try), but who knows whether or not they will work.

For workbench use, a 1280x1024 (17 or 19") LCD should look OK, since the scaling involved isn't drastic. (Also, some LCDs have better scaling algorithms than others -- Samsung is generally known to be pretty good in this regard.) However, finding one that's going to both work via d-sub AND flicker-fix laced modes is going to take some trial, error, and cash... and one may not exist. A scandoubler + LCD might work, but usually does not.

Games aren't going to look nearly as nice as they do on a good CRT. I recently spent a bunch of time and money trying a component video encoder + LCD TV with my amigas, only to be seriously disappointed when I came to the conclusion that the old C= monitors produce a superior picture. (The LCD *did* line-double and flicker-fix though, which was pretty cool.) However, some people are fine with just s-video and LCD. Just depends on how picky you are.

(In addition to the above, there's the PAL/NTSC issue to consider. Many displays only handle one or the other.)

Bottom line -- I've been searching for quite a while now, and have yet to find a good modern screen. I'm starting to think that for me, my old DCE internal scandoubler + CRT was the best it's gonna get... or maybe an LCD for workbench, and a sd/ff+CRT for everything else.

Too bad DCE doesn't produce those internal units anymore... they were actually pretty decent.
