For old games and demos, the A600 is great. You *can* surf the web on it, but that would require lots of time and effort to set up, not to mention $$$ for a CPU/RAM expansion. Same goes for 3.9. (I'd stick with a maximum of 3.1 on a stock A600.)

The A1200 does everything the A600 will do, plus it has AGA... and CPU expansions are easier to find and less expensive.

What guru-666 is saying is very true... browsing on an Amiga is nothing short of horrific, a $5 Pentium 3 would be a better choice.

I'd get the kids a PC to surf the web and play some stupid games. Kids these days would hate the amiga for games. These be different times old man. My girlfriends little 9 year old brother got his hands on a super nintendo last month. He was complaining about how bad the games are on that platform. He described it as a system from wayyy back in the day. Made me feel like a geezer, and i'm a few years from 30, and my child hood consisted of me feeling cooler than my friends piddling around with SMB1 while i played games like defender of the crown, sinbad and the throne of the falcon and faery tale adventures on the a1000 while my friends were subjected to the NES.

Yeah, 5-year olds LOVE those old systems, though. One of my little guys will let the PS2 sit to play Super Mario 3 on the NES. Makes me wish I hadn't dumped my TG-16 and TurboDuo years ago... the kiddies would have loved Bonk's.
