Hmm, I tried AROS native on i386 on a Compaq Evo 2Ghz machine, and it was um, unusable to say the least.
Perhaps Wanderer was unusable? ;-)
Now, I KNOW it's not finished, and i KNOW theres huge chunks missing, but, the workbench kept freezing on me, and the windows stopped drawing icons, and sometimes it just went-away for about 5 mins, before actually responding to a mouse click.
This made even exploring the contents of the AROS cd a major hassle, so I didn't even try any other Amiga software.
There are issues with Wanderer and also the ide.device, some known and some unknown yet. That, however, doesn't make the whole AROS unstable, of course. I agree that it's not nice to have the filemanager lock on you, but there's always the CLI :-)
I'm not against AROS, it's just too Alpha for me at the moment.
Don't use Wanderer (it can't do anything useful but launch apps, at the moment, anyway), and be happy :-D
