CD32 image quality on hdtv

I've recently hooked up the CD32 to my 42" full hd plasma and while its been hours of fun play the classics on the large screen is there anything I can do to improve the look of the graphics.  Obvousily with a 1200 etc there is options to add graphics cards but is there anything I can do to my console??

I've been using composite myself but will try the s-video later.  My TV is full HD (panasonic veria job) so 1920x1280 resolution (or whatever it is) and I also play the games in 4:3 aspect ratio and not the stretched 16:9 although when stretched it looks ok in most games, just some characters get fat lol.
