Parallel to SCSI
« on: July 15, 2007, 02:23:04 PM »
Thinking ahead to productivity uses of my miggy, I am looking to easy "sneakernet."  An ethernet card is possible in the future, but I don't want to spend that much money until I see just how much I use the machine.

I see Belkin has a parallel to SCSI adapter for 45.00, and I see one on Ebay for 20.00.  I've a NIB parallel Zip drive from days gone by.  Do I recall correctly that the Amiga could read/write SCSI Zips without extra drivers?  Actually, I've seen some old icons on my A2000 backup directories for Zip stuff, so I may have them if they are required.

Guess I should have also mentioned that I am assuming the Amiga will be able to read/write PC format through CrossDos.  However, I also assume that WinUAE will be able to handle the transfer in Amiga format if not.

Hopefully, at least one of the above is not going from an assumption to a conclusion without going through the space in between...

I am not sure what you are suggesting that's cheaper than 20-45 bucks.

I have a SCSI card in the PC, a never used parallel Zip drive, and boatloads of old Zip disks.

OTOH, if you have an even cheaper way, I am all for that...
