HDD death - say its not so!

I have a 1200 with buffered 4xEIDE interface and a Hitachi 1 gig HDD. I swapped it into my other 1200 (don't ask why) and it booted but then the HDD LED got stuck on so I did a soft reboot (probably not a good idea). Now, although the drive spins and has power I can't see it in Workbench nor does it show as a device in HDToolBox. I was hoping my RDB had just gone but it looks like the drive is dead? But it still spins how can this be right? I've put it back in the original machine now but still the same. Help prevent another Amiga suicide and tell me how to save it --- if I have to rebuild is it worth using another filesystem?

I'm beginning to accept the worst. I have a backup on Iomega SCSI Jaz drive but can't get to it without the Blizzard SCSI kit drivers for 1230/1260. Can anyone upload the lha archive for me or email it as I can't find the DCE website where they used to be anymore. Thanks very much

Another possibility is slight oxidisation on the pins. Try put the
cable on and pulling it off a few times (gently) and giving the drive
a rest inbetween.

Yes I think you may be right as I've put it in a PC and the PC can see it. Going to try it with WinUAE a bit later see if I can see any data.
