A3000 at a good buy it now price.
« on: October 12, 2012, 06:34:54 PM »
I've been watching this A3000 since early this morning. $149 Buy it now.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Amiga-A3000-System-Unit-Boots-/180995029998?pt=US_Vintage_Computers_Mainframes&hash=item2a2424fbee

I have an extra 040 CPU card that I was thinking about trying in an A3000 but decided that I don't have the time or space for another Amiga right now and the price is good, especially if the memory is maxed out. Somebody else here should get this. Cheers.
A2500 owned since 1993 with A2630/DKB 2632, DKB Megachip, GVP EGS Spectrum, A2320 and GVP HC+8 on the inside and a DCTV on the outside. A4000D with CSPPC, Cybervision 64 and a Flicker Magic flicker fixer. A4000T Toaster Flyer & CSMKII. All systems completly retro and classic and mostly used to do geometic art as in my avatar.

If it boots, the battery damage hasn't killed it. Remove the battery, clean the MB and it should be good to go for a long time. Hard to tell how bad it is from the listing photo. It looks Ok to me, no green stuff on the MB which is the state my A4000 came in. I just cleaned it up after removing the battery and no further damage was done and it's been working for me since 2007.

In the A2320 card there is a tweak pot that sometimes needs to be adjusted. Might be similar on the A3000. I've never owned one and I'm not familiar with the fine details of the hardware.

The battery damage might explain why it wouldn't sync on his monitor.
Built in flicker fixer prob?? (or just disabled??  I don't have an A3000)

Still, there are some people who are pretty good at saving Amigas with battery damage.
Hopefully one of them gets that box..

I just looked at the photos again and there is a tweak point for the 31khz port right next to it just like on the A2320. Probably just needs to be adjusted. The switch is in the enable position. From the description it sounds like the 31khz out works when the machine is cold but stops working once it warms up.

Is it not a cheap price even if there some work with it? Maybe it is because i live in Denmark were they are quite rare, if i would find one here, it will cost quite some money.

I definitely see this as a doable project and it could be a quite nice machine if cleaned up and the battery removed before it does irreparable damage. I'm still tempted to pop for it but I've got a lot of projects right now.

Yeah, just checked the listing again. I'm surprised it lasted this long. I put a non working A4000 on Ebay last winter that needed a CPU card and had a broken power supply and maybe other issues that made it a much bigger project than this A3000. I listed  at the exact same price BIN price and it sold within minutes.

Well, here's another one in a similar price range. Nicer overall but severe battery damage which the seller has honestly described as messing up the 31khz vga out. I took one look at the photo of the pit in the MB and it's obvious how bad it is. Otherwise real clean.

Looks like this one is a good project A3000 for someone with the paticience to set it up and then shop around for a good A3000 motherboard to fix the 31khz out and whatever else the battery messed up.
