Hi,
I'm running Amithlon. I moved a DVD writer to my system from a Windows PC a few months ago. I've been using MakeCD to write to it but it is extremely unreliable about fixing the discs.
The DVD writer is an LG GSA-4081B. It worked reliably in Windows so I think it must be a software issue on the Amiga, although I did attempt to access LG's site to find out if there was a firmware upgrade for this thing (not easy using AWeb! :boohoo:) with no success (i.e. I don't know if there is an upgrade).
I was just wondering if anyone else has tried using MakeCD with this drive, and if they've had similar results.
The un-fixed discs are readable with my Amithlon system, but not with anything else. When fixing works, the discs can be read on everything I've tried.
I don't know what magic needs to happen to get a fixed disc, but it seems to involve cold-booting the PC about 20 times.
It is important for me to get good backups right now because I am about to try installing Zenwalk Linux on my Amithlon box.
Thanks for any help or info.
