Amiga at War: AOS4 vs MOS
« on: July 24, 2003, 10:48:15 PM »
When I Was child I saw the Amiga vs Atari battle,
then the Amiga1.3 vs Amiga 3.0 (!!) and the Amiga vs MSDos.
The final battle (Amiga vs Windows) was our defeat (I joined the "Amiga army" with my a1200), but we still continued our battles (do you remember the Amiga vs p-Os battle?).
Altough I think that this keeps the platform alive, do you REALLY think that we need to fight agains a brother os like MOS? I would have never started the project because of the community split it has produced, but since it is here ...

regards,
Claudio

you are right, but still I cannot see the two words AmigaOS and MorphOS on the same thread without flames being spread. I would really love to have both running, but it is not going to happen, unfortunately.

Err yes, I understand and want to apologize with the MOS friends out there. The points is quite complex: I do some programming on multiple targets (Posix, AmigaOS 3, MacOS Classic and, as soon as the G5 is out, Mac OS X). Testing software is already a horrible task, now imagine having to deal with subtle differences, GUI aspect and behaviour, kernel timings and so on. Imagine keeping the source trees up and running on all these systems!
so when I say that I will not run both AOS and MOS is because since they share the same API, I expect them to run the same software and possibly tha same way.
